New York Sub closed out 53 years of serving sandwiches in the 4300 block of Asbury Street in the Park Cities by offering $10 sandwiches Wednesday.
The owners of the popular sandwich shop invited customers to “come say goodbye…and help us finish out 53 years the right way — by selling out every last sub” in a post on the shop’s Facebook page. “All subs just $10.”
The shop also invited fans of their food to follow them on Facebook and Instagram to find out “what’s next” and how they can still get their favorites delivered via Uber Eats and GrubHub.
By around noon on Wednesday, the sandwiches were largely sold out.
New York Sub announced plans in January to close the shop at 3411 Asbury Street at the end of February.
“We were in the middle of negotiating another 10-year lease when our landlord sold the building, and while the new owners have been kind, we simply can’t make the new financial terms work,” the post read. “This neighborhood has been our home. We’ve raised our kids here and watched so many of you grow up — walking over from class at SMU, coming back years later with spouses and strollers, then with your own kids in jerseys after a game. We’ve seen first dates turn into weddings, then into families sharing a table where you once shared a cookie.”

The January post indicated the owners were interested in finding a new location for the shop or someone who wanted to take the sandwich shop over.
