SMU history professor John Mears gave a talk on “France and America in the Age of Democratic Revolutions” at Brook Hollow Golf Club on March 3.
The talk was sponsored by the International Society of Dallas-Fort Worth and featured L’Hermione, a replica of Lafayette’s synonymous ship that sailed in 1780. Former secretary of state Henry Kissinger is chairing a committee called The Friendship of Hermione-Lafayette, which will spearhead the replica’s voyage to the U.S. next month.
