The Preston Royal Branch Library will undergo exterior maintenance work beginning Monday, May 18.

Contractors will be conducting asbestos abatement on the building’s outside columns, working one column at a time around the library over an estimated 45-day period, according to a written statement by council member Gay Donnell Willis.

To safely contain materials during the process, each column will be wrapped and ventilation fans will operate continuously while work is underway, the statement read.

The library will remain open to the public during construction, and all required safety precautions are being implemented by the project team.

Questions regarding the project may be directed to Robert Van Buren with the City of Dallas Office of Bond and Construction Management.
