The Highland Park Library is offering a jam-packed calendar this summer. The library-based events provide opportunities for all ages to get out of the Texas heat and get the mind engaged instead of binging the newest Prime Video series.
Summer events include Mommy & Me Yoga, one-on-one reading time with service dogs from Canine Companions, Mahjong Open Play, and do not require attendees to be a resident of Highland Park or have a library card.
Investigative journalist, Claire St. Amant, a former producer for 48 Hours and 60 Minutes, will share how true crime cases are discovered and the behind-the-scenes drama that goes on at “Unearthing a True Crime Story” on Saturday, July 18 at 1:00 p.m.
For yogis, Chair Yoga welcomes participants of all skill levels. Writers can attend “Unearth Your Story,” a weekly writing workshop held the first, third, and fourth Wednesday of the month, when the Lunch Bunch Book Club meets.
There’s also Tuesday Trivia, adult crafting, and a puzzle competition. Lucky Ducky, a monthly summer program, will begin July 28 and feature a bingo-type game with book prizes.
For children’s activities, the library is offering a plethora of events. Dinomania, a dinosaur-themed interactive show with Safari Cindy, STEAM Cinema, a family-friendly showing of a film and a craft, as well as Teen Triassic Timeskip, an escape room.
More information about the library events can be found on the Town of Highland Park’s event calendar.
