Last night, the Highland Park ISD Board of Trustees approved the creation of a new administrative position: director of safety and security services. But Tuesday’s vote was merely a formality. Superintendent Dawson Orr said the job has already been posted, and the first interviews will happen Friday. Orr also said he discussed creating the new position with Chris Vinson, director of the Highland Park Department of Public Safety, and Greg Spradlin, acting chief of the University Park Police Department. They endorsed the move, Orr said, and suggested candidates for the job.
