Trailblazing Highland Park alumni who have made their mark in fields including education, technology, finance, nonprofits, and government will share their stories from 9 to 11 a.m. in a Scots Talk at Highland Park High School, 4220 Emerson Ave.
The event is free and open to the community. Attendees should enter through the Westchester Drive entrance across from the high school’s parking garage.
Speakers include:
- Two-time cancer survivor and former chair of the North Texas Board of the American Cancer Society Beth Wilson Stavinoha, who founded the first Dallas cancer support group to give care and hope to patients, survivors, and caregivers.
- Spotify data alchemist and author Glenn McDonald, who is currently dedicating his talents to the AI revolution and determining how this technology can improve human lives.
- Teach for America founder Wendy Kopp, who now serves as CEO of Teach for All, a global network of independent nonprofit organizations working to develop collective leadership to ensure all children have the opportunity to fulfill their potential. Kopp is the youngest person and the first woman to receive Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson Award, has been named one of Time Magazine‘s 100 Most Influential People, and is a Presidential Citizens Medal recipient.

- Founder and chairman of Annandale Capital George Seay, who sits on the boards of Clements Center for National Security, Texas-Israel Alliance, the 7th Generation Foundation, and Southwestern Medical Foundation. Seay has also served as Finance Chair and Senior Advisor to two Presidential candidates.
- Under Secretary of Energy for Nuclear Security Brandon Williams, who has served as a naval commander on the submarine USS Georgia, founded several companies, been a farmer, and been elected to the US House of Representatives.
