SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: COIN CAPER

Reported at 4:35 p.m. April 6: A discerning thief stole about $500 in U.S. cash, $2,500 worth of British pounds, a gold South African Krugerrand coin worth about $5,000, two $20 gold U.S. coins worth $10,000, a $10 gold U.S. coin worth $2,500, and another U.S. coin worth $5,000 from a home in the 3600 block of Maplewood Avenue, but left $85,000 worth of men’s watches untouched.

HIGHLAND PARK

6 Monday

Reported at 1:46 a.m.: A crook stole a vehicle from a resident in the 3600 block of Dartmouth Avenue that was later recovered in Coppell.

Arrested at 3:14 a.m.: A 47 year old at the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Livingston Avenue for a warrant.

7 Tuesday

Arrested at 12:15 a.m.: A 22 year old in the 4800 block of Preston Road for possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

8 Wednesday

Reported at 1:37 p.m.: A fraudster used the information of a resident in the 4500 block of Belclaire Avenue to try to open credit accounts.

10 Friday

Reported at 12:27 p.m.: A careless driver hit a Lexus car at the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Beverly Drive and fled the scene of the crash.

Arrested at 6:50 p.m.: A 20 year old at the intersection of Lakeside Drive and Gillon Avenue for a warrant.

Reported at 2:48 p.m.: A burglar broke into a vehicle on Hanover Street.

Reported at 5:35 p.m.: A thief stole a firearm from a vehicle on Dyer Street.

Reported at 8:09 a.m.: A crook broke into a a home under construction on Bryn Mawr Drive.

Arrested at 12:02 p.m.: A 27-year-old man for a warrant on Preston Road.

Reported at 10:15 a.m.: A burglar got into a vehicle on Southwestern Boulevard.

Reported at 11:54 a.m.: A crook got into another vehicle on Southwestern Boulevard.

Reported at 1:05 p.m.: A shoplifter took items from a store on Preston Road.

Arrested at 3:31 p.m.: A 34-year-old man for a warrant on Southwestern Boulevard.

Reported at 4:13 p.m.: A thief took stuff from a vehicle on Stanford Avenue.

Reported at 7:57 p.m.: A bandit stole bicycles from a home on Purdue Street.

Reported at 8:13 a.m.: A porch pirate pilfered a bicycle from the porch of a home in the 3300 block of Centenary Drive.

Reported at 9:50 p.m.: A crook took a license plate from a vehicle on Stanford Avenue.

Reported at 3:43 p.m.: A thief took stuff from a home on Amherst Street.

Reported at 10:44 a.m.: A swindler used airline miles belonging to a resident on Wentwood Drive.

Reported at 8:54 p.m.: A mischief maker on Turtle Creek Boulevard.

Reported at 7:16 p.m.: A ne’er do well broke the back sliding window of a pickup truck in Preston Center Plaza, but didn’t take anything from inside the truck.
