Siblings Charlotte, Walker, and Olivia Norwood will serve up sweet drinks along with a generous helping of kindness at their fifth-annual “Lemon-Aid” stand from 2 to 4 p.m. today through Friday, June 5, at the corner of Southwestern Boulevard and Hillcrest Road.

Funds raised at the stand will benefit victims of the Oak Cliff explosion and fire, which took three lives, injured five others, and forced many out of their homes.

The Norwood siblings have a long history of making a difference with their lemonade stands. Last year, the trio raised over $3,800 for Kerr County’s Dietert Center, which was severely damaged by July 4’s floods.

The lemonade stand idea originated five years ago when Charlotte Norwood overheard her grandfather, Bill Walker, on the phone with Operation Care International discussing Ukrainian orphans in need.

“I want to help,” Charlotte said. “I can sell lemonade.”

What started as a stand with her friends and family to help orphans on the other side of the world has turned into a yearly charitable tradition.
