SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: LUMBER LOOTER

A crafty criminal stole 1.8 bundles of wood siding valued at $2,334.60 per bundle before 2:32 a.m. on July 16 from inside the locked gates of a home under construction in the 4500 block of Westway Avenue.

HIGHLAND PARK

14 Tuesday

A 40-year-old man was arrested for criminal trespassing at about 3:59 p.m. in the 3700 block of Euclid Avenue.

15 Wednesday

Officers arrested a 28-year-old man on a warrant at about 12:37 a.m. near the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Gilbert Avenue.

A 47-year-old man was arrested for assault against a family or household member at about 2:37 a.m. in the 4200 block of Lomo Alto Drive.

A dirty crook stole packages containing Clorox bleach, silk pillow cases, fertilizing spikes, and honey before 3:59 p.m. from a porch in the 4600 block of Lorraine Avenue.

16 Thursday

A 31-year-old man was arrested for driving while intoxicated at about 12:41 a.m. near the intersection of Lakeside Drive and Armstrong Parkway.

A scoundrel broke the window of a Ford Raptor, entered the truck, and stole a Chromebook, clothing, and a wallet containing a driver’s license and debit cards before 12:45 p.m. in the 4200 block of Mockingbird Lane.

A brazen burglar shattered the rear passenger window of  a GMC Sierra 1500 in the 4200 block of Mockingbird Lane before 12:42 p.m. and stole a 9mm pistol from the center console.

18 Saturday

A 42-year-old man was arrested for assault causing bodily injury at about 12:50 a.m. in Highland Park Village.

Officers arrested a 53-year-old man for simple assault and a 29-year-old man for simple assault and public intoxication at about 8:19 p.m. in Highland Park Village.

Reported at 5:58 p.m.: A destructive deviant damaged a vehicle on Emerson Avenue.

14 Tuesday

A 37-year-old woman was arrested on a warrant at about 11:07 a.m. on University Boulevard.

Reported at 12:09 p.m.: Officers responded to a disturbance call on Dickens Avenue.

A brazen burglar stole from a vehicle in The Plaza at Preston Center at about 1:50 p.m.

15 Wednesday

Reported at 10:17 a.m.: Personal belongings were found inside the city’s fire training facility on Fondren Drive.

Reported at 12:01 p.m.: A reckless roadster caused at least $200 damage to a vehicle during a hit-and-run crash in a private parking lot on Hillcrest Avenue.

Reported at 12:50 p.m.: A resident told police about a comment that had caused him concern on Colgate Avenue.

Reported at 3:27 p.m.: A thief stole from a vehicle on Grassmere Lane between July 11 and 15.

A destructive deviant broke a window in The Plaza at Preston Center parking garage at about 3:56 p.m.

Reported at 5:41 p.m.: A license plate looter stole the plate of a vehicle in the 4100 block of Grassmere Lane.

Reported at 3:30 p.m.: Credit card abuse on Larchmont Avenue.

Reported at 10:49 p.m.: An irresponsible operator drove off after striking the barrier arm in a garage on Hillcrest Avenue.
