SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: DISAPPOINTED DAMAGER
Reported at 1:49 p.m. June 29: A shopping bag stealer was likely disappointed after smashing the window of a Volkswagen SUV outside the Christian Dior store in Highland Park Village and stealing a Dior shopping bag that turned out to be empty.

Arrested at 7:30 p.m.: A 41 year old in the 4300 block of Edmondson Avenue for driving without valid insurance and a valid driver’s license, and for a warrant.
1 Wednesday
Arrested at 12:45 p.m.: A 32 year old for a warrant in the 3400 block of Normandy Avenue.
Arrested at 7:01 p.m.: A 37 year old for public intoxication in Highland Park Village.
2 Thursday
Reported at 4:07 p.m.: A fraudster purporting to be from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) contacted a resident in the 3400 block of Lindenwood Avenue by email and stated that a box of pain medication with the resident’s DEA and NPI numbers on it had been found in a vehicle on a highway. Calls were redirected or disconnected each time the resident’s attorney asked a question requiring verification.

Arrested at 12:47 a.m.: A 54 year old for public intoxication in the 4800 block of Abbott Avenue.
4 Saturday
Arrested at 3:21 a.m.: A 28 year old for failing to do their duty after striking a structure, fixture, or highway landscape and driving while intoxicated at the intersection of Arcady Avenue and Roland Avenue.
