A multi-vehicle crash left three people hospitalized and led to the closure of all southbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway from Walnut Hill Lane to Northwest Highway Friday afternoon, officials said.
Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said an 18-wheeler hit multiple vehicles and a wall shortly after 11 a.m. Evans said the crash involved six vehicles, including the 18-wheeler, which rolled onto its side. Since then, a North Texas Tollway Authority spokesperson said the exit was moved back to Royal Lane and the northbound lanes of the tollway were also closed as crews work at the scene.
Evans confirmed three people were transported to a hospital in stable condition and said DFR’s HazMat team responded because ruptured saddle tanks on the 18-wheeler spilled about 170 gallons of fuel.
“Drivers should expect heavy traffic and may want to avoid the area,” the North Texas Tollway Authority said in a news release.
