After the more-than-century-old Downtown Dallas Neiman Marcus flagship store closed Wednesday, its parent company, Exemplar Luxury Group, revealed more about plans to incorporate the brand’s history into NorthPark.
The Zodiac Room, the restaurant formerly on the sixth floor of the downtown location at 1618 Main Street known for its signature popovers with strawberry butter, will open in the former Neiman Marcus Cafe space in the NorthPark store on Nov. 20.
A spokesperson for Exemplar Luxury Group says the NorthPark Zodiac Room restaurant will incorporate design elements from the downtown location, like the turquoise walls and art. The menu will have familiar items, like the popovers, chicken broth, “Stanley Marcus pot roast,” and mandarin orange souffle, along with some new items. A holiday feast will be on offer Nov. 20-Jan. 2. Reservations will be available through OpenTable.
The bridal salon will also make the move to the lower level of the NorthPark store, expected in early December. Brides can still go to the NorthPark store for alterations and fittings while the new bridal salon is under construction.
The downtown store’s popular Santa, Felix Estridge, will appear at the NorthPark store after Thanksgiving for traditional photos and breakfast.
Historic art pieces from the downtown store will be housed across the Neiman Marcus portfolio, according to an Exemplar spokesperson.
“As we close an important chapter in our history, we do so with immense gratitude for the generations of associates and customers who made our Downtown store so special. For more than a century, this store has held a cherished place in our history and in the lives of our customers, helping shape Neiman Marcus into the iconic luxury retailer it is today. The spirit of innovation, exceptional service and deep customer relationships that defined our Downtown store will continue to guide us as we honor our rich heritage and embrace our bright future. Dallas remains an incredibly important market for the Neiman Marcus brand. We are excited to enhance our NorthPark store by infusing new elements that celebrate our storied history, continuing to evolve the experience where our customers prefer to shop,” Exemplar Luxury Group said in a statement.
Neiman Marcus was founded in 1907 by Abraham Lincoln “Al” Neiman, his wife Carrie Marcus Neiman, and his brother-in-law Herbert Marcus Sr.
The closure of the downtown Dallas flagship store Sept. 30 came after the parent company, previously Saks Global, filed for bankruptcy early this year.
