Dallas city and education leaders gathered with Teach For America – Dallas-Fort Worth on Feb. 3, 2015 at the Perot Museum for a fundraising event to announce a new partnership between TFA, SMU, DISD, and the Momentous Institute.
The partnership will expand summer learning opportunities for Dallas students, as well as provide new training and educational opportunities for new teachers, including incoming TFA corps members. At the event, members of the TFA-DFW board announced a $500,000 challenge grant for the new partnership.
In attendance was Mayor Mike Rawlings, SMU President R. Gerald Turner, Todd Williams (co-chair of TFA-DFW’s regional advisory board), Michelle Kinder (Executive Director of the Momentous Institute) and TFA-DFW Executive Director Alex Hales. Other notable guests included, Robin & Norm Bagwell, Key Coker, Mary McDermott Cook, Linda Evans, Jennifer Staubach Gates, Sally and Forrest Hoglund, Bobby Lyle, Nancy Cain Marcus, Margot and Ross Perot, and Lisa Simmons.
