Nobody should be surprised that Highland Park ISD voters have taken an interest in the district’s $361.4 million bond package, as early-voting numbers suggest.
As of about 10 a.m. Friday, the tally had reached 3,694 voters for the bond election. That’s a turnout of roughly 17 percent.
We don’t know the number of yays and nays, of course, but it marks a significant increase over the most recent HPISD bond referendum in 2008, when taxpayers cast a total of 2,033 ballots.
Today is the final day for early voting, by the way, with polls open until 7 p.m. at all Dallas County polling locations, including the HPISD administration building and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Election day is Tuesday, and you can find all of your necessary precinct information here.
