Seniors across Dallas ISD, including several students set to graduate from Preston Hollow neighborhood high schools, are securing spots at colleges and universities, marking an important step in planning for their futures.
While the high school seniors are taking their first steps toward future college experiences, their accomplishments demonstrate both the students’ hard work and the support of the teachers, counselors, and families who guide them along the path to higher education.
The students who have been admitted as part of the college early decision process are making plans to attend institutions that include The University of Chicago, University of Notre Dame, and Boston College, reflecting the district’s commitment to preparing students for competitive higher education opportunities, said Dallas ISD officials in a statement.
As these local seniors continue to make choices that will shape the next phase of their education, some are balancing college acceptances with scholarship offers. According to the statement from Dallas ISD, several students from Preston Hollow area public high schools are celebrating full-ride scholarships, which provide comprehensive financial support for tuition as well as room and board.
In the Preston Hollow area, full-ride scholarships have been awarded to students from Thomas Jefferson High School and Hillcrest High School, with recipients planning to attend institutions that include Texas Christian University, Lehigh University, Bucknell University, Brandeis University, Davidson College, and Washington University in St. Louis.
The accomplishments of these seniors highlight the broad range of opportunities available to Dallas ISD students as they plan for college, said the Dallas ISD statement. For many, these early acceptances provide clarity and motivation as they approach the remainder of their high school careers. The early college acceptances and scholarship awards also mark a significant milestone for seniors across the district and reflect the successes of this year’s graduating class.
Sergio, a Hillcrest High School scholarship recipient whose full name was not provided, received a full ride to TCU and described his scholarship award as “a dream come true.”
