Highland Park ISD is wrapping up 2024 bond projects on campuses around the district. District officials estimate 90% of the work will be done by August.

Student parking lot expansion work and practice field turf completion are tentatively expected to be done by spring 2027. Any surplus bond funds will be allocated by approval of the district’s Finance Committee.

At Highland Park High School, work on the kitchen, serving area, and dining area is underway. The auditoriums and student restrooms at both the high school and Highland Park Middle School/MIS are also getting renovations over the spring and summer.

“They need significant improvements,” Scott Drillette, interim assistant superintendent of business services, said of the auditoriums. “Fine arts is excited about what’s happening there.”

At Armstrong Elementary, lockers will be replaced, while the gyms will get fresh paint, basketball goals, wall pads, and floors, and classrooms will get new whiteboards and display boards.

In other news:

  • Highland Park ISD staff will recommend SAVVAS Envision + Mathematics materials for students in kindergarten to Algebra 2, BFW Pulishers for AP Statistics, and Cengage for Precalculus.
  • Highland Park ISD staff discussed the projected teacher pay scale in the event of a possible 3% or 4% pay raise. The issue is expected to come back before the school board.
