The pairings are set, and Highland Park will play Katy Cinco Ranch in the Class 6A state semifinals at noon Friday in Georgetown.
The Lady Scots (24-0-2) will make their 10th state tournament appearance, and first in the state’s highest classification. They were dominant during a postseason run through Region II, shutting out all five of their opponents, including a 3-0 victory over Pflugerville Hendrickson in the regional final.
The Lady Cougars (23-2) lost in the state semifinals last season and earned a return trip to the state tournament with a 3-0 win over District 19-6A rival Katy Seven Lakes last weekend. Like HP, Cinco Ranch hasn’t allowed a goal thus far in the playoffs.
The first semifinal on Friday will match unbeaten Coppell (26-0-3) against perennial power San Antonio Reagan (21-2-2). The championship game is slated for 4 p.m. Saturday. We’ll have a more detailed preview later this week.
