Clayton Kershaw reached another legendary career milestone on Thursday when he became just the fourth left-handed pitcher in pro baseball history to reach 3,000 career strikeouts.
The former Highland Park standout achieved the feat during the sixth inning of a 5-4 win for the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium.
Only 19 pitchers have struck out more hitters in their career than Kershaw, and just three of those — Randy Johnson, Steve Carlton, and C.C. Sabathia — are southpaws.
Kershaw, 37, is in his 18th Major League Baseball season, all with the Dodgers. He has cemented his Hall of Fame legacy as one of the most dominant left-handed pitchers in history with three Cy Young awards, one National League MVP honor, and a World Series title in 2020.
