Highland Park has remained perfect throughout the volleyball playoffs. And now, the Lady Scots are just one step away from a perfect ending.
HP swept Aledo on Saturday, 25-16, 25-19, 25-21, to advance to the Class 5A Division I state championship match on Nov. 22 in Garland. The contest will begin at 11 a.m. at the Culwell Center as the first of four title matches that day.
Seeking their first crown, the Lady Scots (42-8) will face A&M Consolidated, which upset New Braunfels in four sets in the other semifinal match on Saturday in Houston.
HP extended its winning streak to 20 matches, dating back to a five-set defeat against Aledo on Sept. 5. The Lady Scots have dropped just seven sets since then, and none in any of their five postseason contests.
Gaining revenge on the Bearcats pushes the Lady Scots into a state final for the second time in program history. They previously were the Class 4A runner-up in 2008 after a four-set loss to Hereford.
Looking ahead, the Lady Tigers (37-9) have won eight matches in a row while winning the Region III title. They reached the state semifinals a year ago.
