Marcus Hanish led a punishing ground game with 222 yards and a touchdown as Parish Episcopal started its playoff run with a 52-7 thumping of district rival Bishop Lynch on Friday in the TAPPS Division I quarterfinals.
The Panthers (10-1) extended their winning streak to 10 games and will next host Tomball Concordia on Nov. 28 in the semifinals.
Parish rumbled for more than 400 rushing yards, more than half of which came from Hanish. Johnathon Phillips ran for two touchdowns and Jaxon McKinney also had a score.
Freshman quarterback Logan Lucero completed just eight passes for less than 100 yards, but three of them went for touchdowns — two to Siler Cooke and one to Jaylen Pile.
The Parish offense scored on its final eight drives of the game in its second consecutive lopsided win over the Friars (6-6). The Panthers finished the regular season with a 66-28 victory in the same matchup two weeks earlier.
In the UIL playoffs, Jesuit Dallas was overwhelmed by powerhouse Denton Guyer, which eliminated the Rangers 44-14 in the 6A Division II area round.

The Wildcats (10-2) raced to a 44-0 lead midway through the third quarter before Jesuit salvaged late scores on a Shane Parker run and a Max Smith reception from Beck Berry.
Cade Kirby caught nine passes for a game-high 127 yards in his final game for the Rangers (6-6). Guyer’s Carter Morgan tossed two scoring passes and Kaedyn Cobbs ran for two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Covenant advanced to the TAPPS Division III semifinals with a 42-14 road win over New Braunfels Christian.
The Knights (7-5) will look to continue the longest postseason run in program history on Nov. 28 against district rival and perennial power Dallas Christian. Covenant lost the prior matchup 45-7 on Oct. 23 but has won four straight games since then.
