The Highland Park boys and girls basketball teams achieved matching final results in District 12-5A action during the past week.
Both teams opened with wins Tuesday at home against Carrollton Creekview before falling in road contests Thursday at Frisco Lone Star in a pair of games that were moved up a day in advance of potential inclement weather.
For the Scots, the loss to Lone Star was their first in district competition and dropped the team to 6-1 and into a tie for first with Frisco Reedy.
Canon Wyatt tried to keep the Scots close, but his team-high 23 points weren’t enough to keep a five-game winning streak rolling with a 74-61 defeat.
For Lone Star, Trey Wright scored 24 points as the Rangers rode a 22-15 margin in the second quarter to the win.
HP showed a more balanced scoring attack Tuesday in a 66-51 win over Creekview as four Scots notched double figures.

Chris Martinez led the way with 18, while Wyatt had 15 and Will Saunders and Charlton Bradford chipped in 12 and 10, respectively.
HP led after one quarter, 24-5, and continues in district at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at home against Carrollton R.L. Turner.
The Lady Scots (ranked No. 18 in 5A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches), meanwhile, came up shy Thursday against Lone Star, 58-44, following a 62-34 win over the Lady Mustangs on Tuesday.
In the victory over Creekview, HP got out to a strong start, claiming a 15-4 advantage after one quarter before taking a 30-19 lead to the break.
The Lady Scots outscored the Lady Mustangs in each of the four quarters, including a 20-8 run in the fourth to close out the game in style.
Ellington Heis and Cate Young powered HP offensively scoring 25 and 20 points, respectively.
Like the boys team, the Lady Scots next host Turner at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
