The first victories of the boys soccer season led to a tournament championship for Highland Park on Saturday in DeSoto.
The Scots (4-2-1) won four games in three days, capped by a 2-0 shutout of Wolfforth Frenship in the title game. Jake Rhine and Aleksander Holmsen scored the goals for HP.
The Scots outscored their tournament opponents by a combined margin of 11-4, including a 3-2 victory over Houston Dekaney in Thursday’s opener, followed by 3-1 triumphs over Faith Family and North Forney.
HP will carry that momentum into the start of the District 12-5A schedule, which comes on Jan. 23 with the home opener against Carrollton Creekview.
