On a night when elite scorers Dawson Battie and Jaxson Thompson combined for 61 points, the only basket by St. Mark’s senior Pranav Danda was the difference in Friday’s win over Greenhill.

Danda’s putback at the buzzer — his only two points of the game — lifted the Lions to a 50-49 road win over the Hornets in a thrilling clash between SPC rivals.

The game was a battle between two of the elite private-school scorers in the state. Battie had 30 points for St. Mark’s, while Thompson poured in 31 for Greenhill. Nobody else reached double figures for either squad.

Following a halftime deficit, St. Mark’s gained a cushion after a third-quarter surge, but Greenhill battled back to take the lead late, setting up Danda’s heroics after a late rebound.

The Lions (15-8) extended their winning streak to three games entering a week in which they will play three times—facing TAPPS foe Bishop Lynch, Fort Worth Trinity Valley, and Fort Worth Country Day.

Meanwhile, the Hornets (18-9) had their four-game winning streak snapped and suffered their first loss in conference play. They will head to Austin next weekend to face St. Stephen’s and St. Andrew’s.
