When the 2026 NBA playoffs kicked off this weekend, Dallas Hillcrest product Daniss Jenkins and the Detroit Pistons were part of the action.
Jenkins, a 2019 Hillcrest graduate, helped the Pistons to a 60-22 record and No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference in his second season in the league.
Detroit got things underway Sunday, but suffered a defeat in Game 1 of its series against the Orlando Magic, 112-101.
Jenkins, who has been described as a fan-favorite in Detroit, played 22 minutes and scored six points with two rebounds, two assists and a block.
Jenkins was coming off a regular season in which he averaged 9.3 points, 3.9 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game, including a career-high 30 points March 23 in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Detroit will look to bounce back in Game 2 at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
