Highland Park’s boys soccer team didn’t make the deep postseason run it did in 2025 when the team navigated the Texas gauntlet unscathed.

But it was another successful season for the Scots nonetheless, and one that may have been a bit unexpected given the squad’s new look. Numerous key pieces of last year’s team have graduated and moved on. HP managed a second-place finish out of a competitive District 12-5A before suffering a loss in the bi-district round of the playoffs to a Frisco Liberty team that advanced to the regional final.

Recently, members of HP’s squad were honored for their success on the pitch. Ten Scots have been named to the 12-5A all-district team.

“I was really pleased with the way this team grew throughout the season,” said Scott Turner, HP head coach. “We were younger than we have been in the past and worked through a very competitive non-district schedule. The goal is always to get to the playoffs and try to earn some results. We would have liked to go further, but when you look at the big picture, it was a very good season for us. And we were very pleased with getting second in our district.”

Leading the way for HP was senior Jake Rhine, who shared MVP honors with Aaron Olguin of Carrollton R.L. Turner following a regular season of 17 goals and 11 assists.

Also claiming a superlative honor was senior Trey Shamburger, who was named Midfielder of the Year.

“Jake and Trey were captains for us and were big contributors and reasons for our offensive success,” Turner said. “They helped us score a lot in transition and were very strong in our attacking sequences.”

First-team selections from HP were procured by senior and University of New Brunswick signee Carter Reese (defender), senior Davis Hooks (defender), senior Greyson Bailey (midfielder), and junior Aleksander Holmsen (striker), while second-team players included senior and Lyon College signee Preston Telfer (goalie), junior Owen Drysdale (midfielder), junior Toby Tsai (midfielder), and freshman Marco Primavera (midfielder).

Rounding out HP’s all-district members with honorable mentions were seniors Jaron Pierce (striker), Luca Stanley (midfielder), Harrison Piering (midfielder) and Nick Regel-Beys (defender), and freshman Garner Godfrey (defender).
