The 2026 campaign was another successful one for Highland Park’s baseball team. The Scots returned to the postseason yet again after adding another district championship to the trophy case.

HP posted a 24-11 record overall, including an 11-3 mark in District 12-5A before advancing to the area round of the playoffs under head coach Travis Yoder, who resigned from his post following the season after 20 years with the program.

Recently, members of HP’s district-winning squad were honored with inclusion on the all-district team, including multiple players who nabbed superlative honors.

Leading the charge were junior Cole Flashnick and senior Tripp Mattison, who were named the Offensive Player of the Year and Reliever of the Year, respectively.

Flashnick was named the district’s top offensive player for the second consecutive season after hitting .471 with two homers, 21 runs, 18 RBIs and eight stolen bases.

Yoder noted that had Flashnick not received top honors offensively, he would have been in the hunt for the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Mattison, a Swarthmore College signee, also earned his second consecutive superlative after being named top reliever in 2025.

In district, Mattison went 4-0 with a 0.32 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 22 innings.

Following for HP with first-team nods were senior designated hitter Isaac Hutchinson, senior catcher Parker Yoder, senior second baseman Adam Richey, sophomore infielder James Siegler, senior outfielder Martin True, senior outfielder and pitcher Henry Gahagan, junior infielder and pitcher Ryan Donahoe, and junior outfielder Leif Richey.

Hutchinson hit .314 with 10 runs and 10 RBIs while filling multiple roles at the field and at designated hitter and pitcher, while Yoder was a finalist for Defensive POY and had just seven stolen bases attempted against him all season while hitting 2.92.

Adam Richey was praised for his consistency both offensively and defensively, as was brother Leif, who was critical in solidifying the bottom of the lineup.

Siegler, meanwhile, hit .444 for the Scots and bounced back in a big way after injuries derailed his freshman season, while Virginia commit Donohoe is a player who coach Yoder anticipates a “big season” for in 2027 after going 2-1 with 1.10 ERA.

Brown signee Gahagan, meanwhile, posted HP’s lowest ERA (0.74) while going 4-0, and really stepped up according to coach Yoder, while True provided strong defense across the outfield.

Honorable mentions went to sophomore Charlie Flint and seniors Gabe Nowak, Ronan Moreland and Charles Brewer.
