Greenhill senior Russell Houston won first place in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s annual Lynn Harrell Concerto Competition on April 14. The teen cellist played Schelomo by Bloch, and he received a $3500 scholarship. Russell was also given the opportunity to play a live recording on National Public Radio’s From the Top with the DSO next year. Russell has been playing cello since he was 10 years old. This fall, he will study cello at Northwestern’s Bienen School of Music. Bravo, Russell!
