On Sept. 7, seven officers with the Highland Park Department of Public Safety will participate in Dallas 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Day. Each of the seven participants will wear the badge number of a police officer or firefighter who died on 9/11. They will climb flights of stairs at Renaissance Tower and ring a bell when they reach the top to remember their honoree. When the officers told members of the HP Town Council about the plans, some were in tears.
