A mosquito taken from the University Park fire department courtyard tested positive for the West Nile virus. The city has already fogged the courtyard area in response, and will re-treat Goar Park and Williams Park tonight.
Employees with the city got an email notifying them of the test results, and the city is continuing its “Fight the Bite” initiative that began in March. That plan includes systematic ground spraying for streets, alleys, parks, and streets on the SMU campus. It also includes property inspections, advice on mosquito control, and free mosquito dunks for residents. If you want to know more, go to the city’s website here.
