At the All-Region orchestra audition on Nov. 13, two Highlander band students earned first chair. Bethanne Bradshaw on flute and Katelin Adams on piccolo will sit in their prestigious positions for the concert on Nov. 22 at Nimitz High School in Irving.
The girls’ instructor, Mary Shinn, who has worked with them since sixth grade, said this is the premier ensemble to be in. The audition process is difficult and few are accepted, let alone earn first chair. With this accomplishment, Bradshaw and Adams automatically qualify for the area level of the All-State tryout process as well.
