You don’t have to be a hipster to like the ukulele. Many modern musicians have embraced the sound of the tiny stringed instrument native to Hawaii, from Elvis Presley to Jimi Hendrix to Taylor Swift.
And if you have a couple of hours to spare this Saturday — and perhaps a hankering for egg rolls or sushi — you can learn to play three chords and nine songs in one evening at Mei Mei Chinese Buffet, 10455 N. Central Expressway.
The best part: it’s free, except for the $10 dining experience. If you don’t already own a uke, organizers say they’ll have a few on hand — especially if you RSVP.
