Rich Rogers, owner of Scardello Artisan Cheese on Oak Lawn Avenue, has been chosen to act as one of 17 judges from across the nation in the Good Food Awards. Rogers will judge — you guessed it — the cheese category in San Francisco on Sept. 7.
The point of these five-year-old awards, apparently, is to highlight foods that are not only delicious, but respect the environment and/or connect to communities and traditions. There’s also a gala in January.
As for Rogers, he says he’s excited to taste cheeses from all over the country. We share his enthusiasm.
