Preston Luggage Shop Says ‘Bon Voyage’

Here’s some sad news for world travelers. Preston Luggage & Gifts is shutting its doors. You might remember that owner Kathy Lynd drew national attention when she and the shop were featured in a recurring bit on the Late Show With David Letterman.

“We would like to thank all of our customers for all their loyalty throughout the 46 years we have been here,” Lynd wrote in an email. “It has been a great pleasure serving all of them over the years.”

Lynd cited the economy as a reason for closing. She said the store is in the process of discounting all remaining inventory. The plan is to close at the end of February, so head over now and say, “Sayonara.”

Too bad. This was a very good store. I bought some luggage here 8 years ago, and it has lasted superbly well, and I have had it serviced for free at this store.

    Very nice people.

I fear they may put another restaurant into this location, and this area doesn’t need another restaurant.
