Community Involvement: I’m a member of Genesis HeROs, a group dedicated to creating safe homes and safe communities for domestic violence survivors in Dallas. I’m part of the Stream Cares Foundation team. The foundation supports communities and local charities in North Texas and other markets. We partner with Hope Supply Co., a Dallas-based non-profit organization that is devoted exclusively to providing critically needed items and programs to enhance the lives of homeless children in North Texas.


Daniel Terrell may have grown up in Louisiana, but he’s made a significant impact in Dallas. A chief legal officer at Stream Energy, Terrell bases his philosophy on performance and integrity while striving to be a trusted counselor and company leader. Outside of the office, the single father of three boys spends time with Genesis Heroes, a group dedicated to creating safe homes and communities for domestic violence survivors. He’s also a part of Stream Cares Foundation, which supports charities in North Texas. Stream Cares is partnering with Hope Supply, which provides items for homeless children.


What is the best advice you received when beginning your career? Build a network of mentors/advisors and always maintain a relationship with colleagues and upper management after leaving business opportunities/jobs. Strive that any company you’ve ever worked with would hire you again.

What is your business philosophy? As chief legal officer, my philosophy is to fuse performance and integrity. I strive every day to be an acute in-house lawyer, company leader and trusted counselor.

What inspires you? People inspire me. So many are selfless, look to give credit to others, overcome adversity, build something from nothing and so on. Purpose inspires me. Being a part of something bigger – a larger purpose than myself or my own interests – drives me.

If you could tell 16-year-old you anything, what would you say? Build a mindset that challenges and adversity are part of your natural environment. Encountering them should be expected and overcoming them is in your nature.

What did you learn from your best boss or mentor? Excellence is table stakes. Become invaluable.

What was your first summer job? Clerk in high school for a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Alexandria, Louisiana.

What do you love about your community? The people! So many here are about helping each other out and looking out for one another and their families.

What is your fondest Park Cities or Preston Hollow memory? Last fall my middle son, Jayden, played for the first time tackle football through the Park Cities YMCA. Seeing him compete and build friendships was so very special. (I also love the 4th of July parade and fireworks at DCC every year!)house!)

Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? I love to travel. In the last year, I’ve been to Bermuda, Mexico (twice), France (twice), Italy and half a dozen states.

What do you want your last meal to be? A Manhattan cocktail from Hotel George V in Paris along with Guy Savoy Paris’ black truffle soup and their then current tasting menu.

What is your favorite color? Black (sorry so basic!)

What fictional world or place would you like to visit? The Seven Kingdoms (Game of Thrones)

If you could be on a reality TV show, which one would you choose? I’d rather have a few root canals than be on a reality TV show.

What would your superpower be? Ability to materialize 3-star Michelin dishes by just thinking about them.
