Portion of Lemmon Avenue Closed For Gas Leak

Lemmon Avenue between Shorecrest Road and Northwest Highway remains shut down Monday afternoon as Atmos Energy crews work to repair a gas line in the 8800 block of Lemmon Avenue.

Dallas Fire-Rescue public information officer Jason Evans said firefighters were dispatched to the scene after a construction crew hit a gas line alongside the 8800 block of Lemmon Avenue at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

“A construction crew doing work unrelated to Atmos Energy was working at 8898 Lemmon Avenue in Dallas and damaged a natural gas pipeline,” an Atmos spokeswoman said. “Atmos Energy’s highly trained technicians are on scene making the necessary repairs and there are no evacuations at this time. Residents may experience traffic delays and should seek an alternate route.”

As of 11:30 a.m. Monday, repair work was expected to last between four and five hours.

Atmos asks anyone who nicks, scrapes, or dents a natural gas pipeline to call 911 and Atmos Energy’s nonemergency number at 866-322-8667 so crews can inspect the pipeline and make any necessary repairs.
