Voters hit the polls on Saturday to decide the Dallas City Council seats with nearly 50 candidates running.

Local polls closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday. According to the unofficial totals from the Dallas County Elections Department, out of 1.4 million Dallas registered voters, 117,577 votes were cast.

In District 14, incumbent Paul Ridley ran unopposed. Council Member Cara Mendelsohn of District 12 and Gay Donnell Willis of District 13, secured wins against their opponents, with Mendelsohn securing 67.59% of the votes, and Willis clocking 65.17% of the votes, according to the Dallas County Elections Department website.

The next Dallas City Council will face a number of challenges including strengthening the Dallas Police and Fire Pension system, increasing police staffing to adhere to the requirement of the Dallas HERO charter amendment, the rebuild of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, and planning the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
