SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: EXPENSIVE OUTING
A thief got into a Mercedes G43 that was left parked with the keys inside in the Plaza at Preston Center and grabbed a $20,000 Cartier watch and $8,000 before 10:25 p.m. May 16 but it could have been worse. At least the thief didn’t decide to make use of the keys.

A careless driver backed into a Toyota Corolla parked between Honor Bar and Cafe Pacific in Highland Park Village at 12:53 p.m. and drove away without leaving information.

Arrested at 3:40 a.m.: a 21 year old accused of unauthorized use of a vehicle and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information in the 6900 block of Preston Road.

Reported at 1:49 p.m.: a smash and grab. A burglar broke a window of a Volvo XC90 parked in the parking lot for the indoor tennis center at the Dallas Country Club in the 4100 block of Mockingbird Lane and grabbed a Madewell leather tote bag.

Arrested at 2:06 a.m.: a 33-year-old man accused of possession of a controlled substance and for warrants in the 4300 block of Westside Drive.
A thief drove off in a Ford F150 that was parked at the Dallas Country Club in the 4100 block of Mockingbird Lane that had a pistol inside before 5:45 p.m.
An intruder broke into a home in the 3500 block of Euclid Avenue, damaging the locking mechanism on one of the doors before 6:45 p.m.

An opportunistic stealer took a Schwinn mountain bicycle from a garage in the 4600 block of Livingston Avenue before 5:50 p.m. while the homeowner was doing yard work.
