SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: A DRIVEWAY IS NOT A ROADWAY

The driver of a Toyota Tundra had trouble distinguishing a driveway from a street at about 12:10 p.m. on June 20. The motorist first entered a driveway, perhaps to avoid cones at the intersection of Maplewood Avenue and Eton Avenue, then tracked sealant onto the driveway while reversing after seeing cones at the other end of the street.

16 Monday

Reported at 7:38 p.m.: A sneaky thief stole between $2,500 and $30,000 in property from CVS on Preston Road.

18 Wednesday

Reported at 3:07 p.m.: A pedaling pilferer stole a bicycle from a home on Asbury Avenue.

A 21-year-old man was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia at about 11:51 p.m. after a traffic stop on Preston Road.

19 Thursday

A 19-year-old man was arrested at about 2:44 a.m. after a traffic stop on Turtle Creek Boulevard for driving while intoxicated and evading arrest with a vehicle.

Reported at 2:11 p.m.: A 2022 Chevy Suburban in the 3000 block of Mockingbird Lane was burglarized.

20 Friday

A crafty criminal stole tools worth between $750 and $2,500 from a home on Binkley Avenue before 8:45 a.m.

A criminal cruiser stole a 2021 Chevy Silverado from Marquette Street at about 1:53 a.m.

16 Monday

Reported at 10 a.m.: A light-footed thief stole pieces of construction equipment with hefty price tags — a tandem roller and mini skid steer — from the 4300 block of Lakeside Drive.

Reported at 4:30 p.m.: Things were not looking up for a resident of the 4600 block of Abbott Avenue. His neighbors requested that police ask him to leave them alone, and a thief stole two copper downspouts behind his residence.

17 Tuesday

A 29-year-old man was arrested on a warrant at about 4:05 p.m. in the 4200 block of Edmondson Avenue.

18 Wednesday

A law breaker damaged rear windows on a 2024 Lexus TX 350 and 2019 Audi Q7 and stole golf clubs and a golf bag valued at $2,800 from the Audi before 7:19 p.m. in the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue.

20 Friday

Reported at 6:10 p.m.: Sneaky shoplifters stole a saddle bag valued at $4,500 and vertical tote bag valued at $3,350 from Dior in Highland Park Village, then made their getaway in a gold Lexus RX350.
