SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: MOBILE BANKING

Reported at 3:56 p.m. on July 23: Who needs to visit a private bank when there’s a privately-owned, unlocked Chevy Tahoe nearby? A thief stole headphones, a watch, and a checkbook from the vehicle in the 3600 block of Harvard Avenue, then attempted to cash two of the checks.

UNIVERSITY PARK

21 Monday

Reported at 12:16 p.m.: A purse poacher stole a bag from a 2025 Ford Explorer on Mockingbird Lane.

Reported at 3:59 p.m.: A thief stole between $2,500 and $30,000 in property from a home on Colgate Avenue.

22 Tuesday

A mischief-maker caused between $750 and $2,500 in damage breaking into a 2025 Ford F-250 in the 2900 block of Bryn Mawr Drive before 6:07 a.m.

Police cited a 45-year-old man for assault by contact at about 11:03 a.m. in The Plaza at Preston Center.

23 Wednesday

Reported at 6:25 a.m.: A dishonorable driver stole a 2023 Land Rover from the 3100 block of Stanford Avenue.

Police investigated the possible forgery of a financial statement at about 8:17 p.m. on Stanford Avenue.

Reported at 8:41 p.m.: A villainous vandal damaged a gate and fence in the 4400 block of Larchmont Avenue.

ER of Texas on Hillcrest Avenue reported at 9:40 p.m. that a criminal caller had been making threats via phone.

24 Thursday

Reported at 5:53 p.m.: A sneaky thief stole property worth more than $100 from CVS in the 3000 block of Mockingbird Lane.

A burglar struck a 2024 GMC Sierra before 5:55 p.m. on Preston Road.

25 Friday

Officers made a traffic stop and arrested a 28-year-old man on multiple warrants on Milton Avenue at about 11:03 p.m.

26 Saturday

A swindling shopper stole between $750 and $2,500 in property from CVS in Snider Plaza at about 2:49 p.m.

27 Sunday

Reported at 8:33 a.m.: A thief stole taillights from a 2023 GMC Sierra on Grassmere Lane.

Reported at 2:03 p.m. A second taillight theft from a 2019 Ford F-250 on Greenbrier Drive.

HIGHLAND PARK

21 Monday

A 29-year-old woman was arrested for failing to have a driver’s license or insurance, speeding, and on warrants at about 1:12 a.m. in the 4200 block of Hawthorne Avenue.

Reported at 10:08 a.m.: Three bikes, including an Intense Primer worth about $5,000, took off from a garage in the 3400 block of Harvard Avenue while their owner was on vacation.

A hoodlum wearing a hoodie rummaged through a Mercedes-Benz GL450 in the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue at about 2:43 p.m., but didn’t take anything.

Construction workers drove into a light pole in the 4500 block of Edmondson Avenue before 7:21 p.m.

A 50-year-old man was arrested for not having a valid license or insurance, obscuring his license plate, possession of a controlled substance, and on multiple warrants at about 8:22 p.m. in the 5400 block of Hillcrest Avenue.

23 Wednesday

A 35-year-old man was arrested on warrants at about 2:45 a.m. in the 5000 block of Airline Road.

A 44-year-old man was arrested for failing to identify himself and on a warrant at about 5:43 p.m. in the 3700 block of Armstrong Parkway.

24 Thursday

A reckless roadster driving a white box truck hit a BMW X5 in the 4500 block of Belclaire Avenue before 5 p.m., then drove away without leaving information.
