Candace Balderas-Miller has been named the new campus athletic coordinator at Hillcrest High School, making her the first woman to hold that role at any Dallas ISD high school.

Balderas-Miller comes to Hillcrest from Molina, where she has spent the past decade as girls soccer coach and assistant athletic coordinator. This spring, she was named the district’s Assistant Athletic Coordinator of the Year.

“As a Latina woman in sports, I am proud to represent both a large part of our student population and the strength of diversity,” Balderas-Miller said. “Hillcrest has an incredible history and tradition, and I am looking forward to working together with our students, families, and community to build on that history and elevate our legacy to the next level.”

She is a Lubbock native who has playing and coaching experience across multiple sports. In addition to her coaching role at Hillcrest, Balderas-Miller will be oversee all athletic programs at the school.

She replaces former Hillcrest boys basketball coach Kelan Jones, who held the administrative title before leaving the school earlier this year.
