Marshall Landwehr, a former Highland Park standout who now plays for the University of Texas, got quite the twist from a Twisters star this week.
Acclaimed actor Glen Powell, who also attended UT in Austin, surprised Landwehr via video during a team meeting to reveal that he was receiving a full scholarship for his final season. His teammates erupted with congratulations upon hearing the news in a joyous celebration that went viral.
Landwehr, who graduated from HP in 2021, had spent the previous four years as a walk-on linebacker who primarily played on special teams.
He graduated with a degree from McCombs School of Business in May but decided to stay for a fifth year to begin work on a graduate degree — and to play one more year for the Longhorns, who open the season on Aug. 30 at Ohio State.
