The city of University Park will hold the second of two public hearings on its proposed budget during tonight’s city council meeting at 5 p.m. in City Hall, 3800 University Blvd.
University Park’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2026 is $72,447,126, a 3.5% increase over the budget adopted in fiscal year 2025.
The city’s proposed property tax rate is $0.218565 per $100 of taxable value, a 4.96% decrease from fiscal year 2025.
The city’s year-over-year certified taxable value has increased by 9.7%, and the city projects a 4.27% increase in its property tax revenue in fiscal year 2026.
The proposed budget also includes fee increases, including 4% increases in water and wastewater service rates, a 9% increase in sanitation rates, and a 50% increase in stormwater fees.

Also during the Sept. 2 meeting, the city council voted to approve an ordinance implementing paid parking in most of the spaces around Burleson Park on SMU football game days.
Thirty-two parking spaces adjacent to the park on Durham Street will continue to have a two-hour limit and remain free on game days. Those spaces are intended for use by park-goers, special projects coordinator Amanda Hartwick explained during the meeting.
