Handcrafted items including iron double doors, a “groovy-looking” purple table, interior custom-painted double doors, and exterior blue lights are available at Discount Home Warehouse, 1768 Empire Central. Click HERE to read Discount Home Warehouse’s Facebook post about the sale.

Discount Home Warehouse is expecting to receive additional items in the next week or two, sales associate Jordan Daniel said.

“The craftsmanship on a lot of these items is so unique that you’ll never see anything like this again,” he said, adding that some pieces, including knobs, have already sold.

Discount Home Warehouse has been giving items destined for landfills a second chance at a home since 1994. More information about the company is available on its webpage, dhwsalvage.com.

In an article in D Magazine, Preservation Park Cities board member Larry Good said about the mushroom house that “the parts are better than the whole.”

“(I)ts goodies ought to be harvested out of there,” Good told D. “That’s how Tom Workman’s legacy lives on, is in the parts and pieces rather than in the whole.”
