UP Projects, Staff Members Recognized

Outstanding University Park improvement projects and efforts by city staffers have earned accolades from the Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association.

In recognition of the city’s dedication to preserving and enhancing one of University Park’s most cherished spaces, phase one of improvements to Centennial Park has received the Project of the Year Award for Historical Restoration and Preservation (Less than $5 million). 

Construction inspector Chris Jackson has been awarded the John German Award for Exemplary Service to Public Works. Jackson, who was nominated for the award by a co-worker, has assisted with projects including those in Snider Plaza and the Miracle Mile.

Director of engineering Katie Barron has earned the Bill Hogge Award for Outstanding Chapter Achievement and Excellence in Chapter Service in recognition of her ongoing contributions to the profession and Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association.

Parks Superintendent Ann Allen has received the Sustainability Practices Award due to her efforts to advance sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

Honorees were recognized earlier this month during the Oct. 7 University Park city council meeting.
