The Highlander Band completed its marching season on Nov. 1 with a fifth-place finish in the area competition, coming just a fraction of a point shy of qualifying for the State Marching Band Contest.
The band qualified for the area competition on Oct. 20 by earning the highest possible score in the region competition. It was one of only three bands in the 5A Region 20 contest to reach the area level.
