The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program is officially underway and the organization is encouraging individuals, families, and friends to help fulfill the wish lists of more than 35,000 Angels this year. Adoptions opened online on Nov. 3 and will open at malls across North Texas on Nov. 7.
The annual holiday tradition ensures children, seniors, and adults with special needs, who otherwise may go without, wake up to gifts under the tree on Christmas morning.
Home to one of the largest Angel Tree programs in the world, The Salvation Army of North Texas has helped make Christmas memorable for nearly 50 years. Adopting an Angel delivers gifts that spark happiness and create lasting hope for families not only during the holiday, but throughout the year.
“With more than 35,000 of Angels registered for gifts this year, we need public support now more than ever,” said Major Carolynn Webb, area commander of The Salvation Army of North Texas. “Now is the perfect time for our community to come together in the spirit of giving. Every gift, whether through Angel Tree adoptions, monetary donations, or volunteering helps The Salvation Army of North Texas meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our neighbors all year long. We are deeply thankful to our supporters who make this program possible each year.”
Once an Angel has been registered, their Christmas wish list is catalogued by The Salvation Army and available for the public to adopt. Items suggested for purchase can include essentials like new clothing, pajamas, hygiene and care products, and shoes, or could be lighthearted gifts such as toys, games, or sports equipment.
Participating retail locations, including NorthPark Center and Galleria Dallas, will also have Angel Tree tags on Christmas trees to adopt an Angel in person. The last day to adopt an Angel is Dec. 6.
