The Chris Murzin Foundation is raising funds to access rare 2021 data that could generate new leads in Chris’ case.
The Foundation has found a company that has retained location-based data from Feb. 2021, the month when Chris was gunned down in an apparent road rage incident in broad daylight on I-20. Despite the diligent efforts of law enforcement, Chris’ murder remains unsolved.
In a post on its Facebook page, the Foundation called finding the data its Christmas miracle. It explained that the majority of companies retain such data for at most two or three years.
The company is willing to sell all of its Feb. 2021 data to the Foundation at cost, or $60,000.
The data can be used to identify devices that were present in the vicinity of Chris’ homicide. The Foundation hopes that these digital footprints will help the Dallas Police Department and Texas Rangers identify new leads in both Chris’ case and other unsolved homicides, including at least three more that occurred in Dallas the same month.

We’ve identified a rare opportunity to purchase historical location-based data from February 2021 — data we didn’t know still existed that may provide new investigative leads in unsolved homicide cases.
