Both the Hillcrest and W.T. White girls basketball teams qualified for the postseason out of District 13-5A.
Unfortunately, both squads met their match against foes from 14-5A Tuesday in the bi-district round.
In Class 5A Division II, Hillcrest claimed an early lead but was unable to find continued success in a 48-33 loss against a Mesquite Poteet team that went unbeaten in district action.
Hillcrest scored the game’s first seven points courtesy of Victoria Hlavaty and Aubrey Norton and led early in the second quarter. However, the Lady Panthers would go scoreless over the final seven minutes and trailed at the break, 24-16.
Poteet then extended its lead to 40-25 heading to the fourth before settling for the final margin.
Hlavaty finished with a team-high 16 points for WTW, while Poteet’s Chaz Beamon netted a game-high 17.

In Class 5A Division I, WTW was eliminated in a hard-fought affair by Dallas Seagoville, 46-42.
Seagoville advances to the area round where it will face Lake Belton at a time and place to be determined, while Poteet draws Crandall in the second round.
