The community is invited to hear bestselling author and screenwriter Blake Crouch deliver the Highland Park Literary Festival keynote speech on Feb. 19 at Highland Park High School.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Reservations are appreciated via Eventbrite.
Crouch’s novels include Dark Matter, Recursion, Upgrade, and the Wayward Pines trilogy. He currently serves as head writer and showrunner for the hit Apple TV+ adaptation of Dark Matter, starring Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly.
LitFest, HP’s annual celebration of language in all of its written, spoken, and visual forms, will continue on Friday, Feb. 20, with professional writer-led workshops for HPHS students. About 2,100 high schoolers will also attend an assembly-style presentation with Crouch.
Since its founding at HPHS in 1995, LitFest has grown into a highly anticipated series of events for students and community members. In the past several years, LitFest has expanded its programming from the high school into every HPISD school.
LitFest now includes an elementary school poetry competition, an Open Mic Night for HPHS students, a student writing contest, parent and student book clubs, scholarships, and a LitFest Student Committee for high schoolers who would like to continue their exploration of literature.

LitFest is made possible by donations from La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas, HP Arts, PC TAG, the HPHS PTA, and individuals.
“Each year, HP LitFest serves thousands in and around our community, in every age group. We are proud to serve more than 6,500 people, from children to adults,” HP LitFest co-chair Haley DeVault said. “The workshop programs, which serve our high school students, showcase and provide access to professional writers of all genres who can offer guidance or inspiration with respect to the craft of literary writing.”
