Tne mural that adorned New York Sub for decades is no more.
The beloved sub shop closed its location in the 4300 block of Asbury Street in February after 53 years of making sandwiches there. Owner Andrew Kelley has continued serving the shop’s menu via a delivery and catering-focused kitchen.
For months after the shop’s closure, a colorful mural depicting a group of people eating sub sandwiches and the New York skyline complete with the Statue of Liberty, remained — until, Kelley said, it was taken down Sept. 10.
Kelley said in a post on social media that the mural was originally created by SMU students in 1974 and was updated by Dallas artist Isaac Brown in 2016 to also include the Dallas skyline, family members, and their dogs.
